Mickey Rourke to play Conan’s father Corin

As reported by Celebrityauthentics, Mickey ‘The Wrestler’ Rourke will play the part of Corin, Conan’s father in the upcoming Conan Movie by Millenium/Paradox/Lionsgate. They say he will soon fly off to Bulgaria to start shooting the scenes, where he will most likely meet Leo Howard who plays his young son.

As I’ve said in the past, Mickey Rourke is in my opinion a great actor and has lots of screen presence, but he also has this inherent “slowness” in his portrayal of the characters, that I wouldn’t necessarily connect in my mind with the Cimmerian father of furious Conan. Since Rourke is a very versatile actor though, I am sure he will, as always, deliver a great performance and put his own mark on the beginning of the movie.

I admit I dont have a clear picture of Conans father, but I have the impression Corin was rather laid back, the quiet smith staying with his family, while Conan takes after his restless granddad.
Anyway this cast seems like the standard “one-good-established-actor-cast” most crappy fantasy movies nowdays have (often played by Ron Perlman)

I hope mickey rourke channels his inner henry chinaski from the 80′s movie barfly: “another round of drinks!!!” ” to all my friends” bartender: “you got me last week because i had the flu.” chinaski” whats it gonna be this week the aids!!!”

Rumble fish is one of my all time favourite films.Rourke can fight but do I see him as Conan’s daddy? It seems an odd choice to put such a talent amongst a load of no hopers like this lot.Does this mean the rewrite stretches out Corin’s part more?Do I really care? This movie still stinks of $h#t.

I can picture Rourke as conans father. His rugged look.
Still fingers crossed that Momoa for some unearthly reason pulls out of playing Conan.
I know a lot will disagree. But if its a toss up between him and that guy out the twilight movie i would prefer the other guy.
The reason why i say this is because there is a familur picture of Conan by Frazetta where he is standing on corpses and and female at his side.(Like most i know):P
And i can picture that same grim look as he looks in the first twilight movie in cetain shots. But thats my opinion as we are free to have:)

Wow…a remake of Arnold’s movie is now confirmed. I loved THAT movie, but it is nothing like the novels and a 2d replica of Howard’s 3d vision. This whole thing seems vey hack and unispired. The revenge motivation is a tired and worn out drive for a character and it is absolutley not Conan’s motivation. I wonder what the hell they are thinking…come on you guys are screwing this whole thing up. Wake up and have some balls. Stick to Howard’s vision…why am i wasting my time its falling on the deaf ears of Hacks.

Holy crap, that man is huge. If this is going to be Momo’s enemy then poor Momo. He will squeeze him like an orange.

Are you kidding!?! I have my problems with Momoa, but he’s ten times better than Lutz any day of the week.
