More rumoured Conan actors looming in the Twilight

The holidays are over and the guys over in Hollywood wake up and the newssites are not far behind to spread the newest rumours on film projects like Conan. The newest rumour is that two guys where in the finals to play Conan, but Millenium has decided to look at another, until now, unknown actor to play the Cimmerian. It also seems that the beginning of shooting was pushed back to the 15th of March now.

Those two are no less than yet another actor from Twilight (Emmett Cullen), who goes by the name of Kellan Lutz:

Jason Momoa

And a TV actor from well known Stargate Atlantis, who plays a somewhat “conanish” inspired barbarian fighter – Ronon Dex – named Jason Momoa.

We jump from pretty face to pretty face and the rumours (or Millenium?) keep pulling out worse contenders out of their magic hat of bad and non-suiting actors. Let’s see who that rumoured “unknown” other actor might be, I got a wild guess, he will be even prettier and less looking like any Conan that Howard ever described.

IGN is reporting, that their “Conan contact” knows the third contender is one of these men: Jared Padalecki, Karl Urban, Jay Tavare, Travis Van Winkle or Derek Mears.

    Welcome to Twilight in Hyboria, pretty much the DUMBEST idea Millennium could do. The perception of Conan to the general public will be ruined. From Arnold to these kids.
    I would now even be happy with a musclebound-Arnold-look-alike-no-acting-talent type of guy as the secret third since it would be better than the shit we see here.

    Oh well… I believe that Jay Tavare looks more like Conan, than anyone else that has been rumoured so far.. He is a bit short though, but at least he is not a beefy pretty face!

    Jason Momoa on the other hand is not the worst choice, he was pretty good on Stargate.

    Good lord, this casting is getting worst and worst by the minute…

    From those options (all wrong, by the way!), I think Jay Tavare would be the best choice. I never thought about him as Conan, but looking at his pics now, he kinda reminds me of Barry Smith’s Conan, which is not bad:

    But he might be too old for the part, you know. The only good thing about this latest news is the fact that LG didn’t agree with those two actors, which shows that at least SOMEONE knows what theyre doing!

    From all the possible actors so far, I’d go for Daniel Cudmore. He’s not perfect for the part (nodoby is, I think), but hes the best choice of all, for sure.

    @jake73, if that’s true he’s probably has the best credentials yet, a 6’4″ ex pit fighting champ who has been classicaly trained as an actor with body that’s probably too good, which is the perfect sinario as he’ll have time to train down a little by march in order to look a little more ‘natural’but still a hell of a lot better than the other girls. If he can act, he’d be my choice followed by JPad.

    Stephen Dangelo does look like a very good match,it was a while ago but i do remember seeing him on the daily show doing that battle scene making fun of john oliver,didnt realize it was him untill i saw his credits,some good shit.He is ruggedly handsome unlike these other pretty boys.He’s got my vote

    “Crommmm” he is not his twin,he is his CLONE,there is a difference.The production team had him genetically enginered to look like Conan and now that he is fully developed they are releasing the news,haha.     That’s right the third contender is a more established actor this Stephen guy hasn’t done anything much at all I would doubt it’s him. I am begginning to think someone is pushing hard for kellan I think it will be him. I know he was supposed to be ruled out but it doesn’t seem like he got the memo.

    D’Angelo looks the part but I bet can’t act to save his life.
    BUT I prefer someone like Arnold (all brawn but no acting talent) over any of the fruits rumored!
    If they want to make a sword&sorcery movie with some kid as the lead I must ask why they can’t call it something else and not tarnish Conan’s reputation as a bad ass.
    Hasn’t Conan suffered enough by being called a dumb brute? Now they mean to steal his masculinity as well?

    D’Angelo deffinalty has the look part down.Weather or not he can act is in the air.According to his bio he was classically trained by J.michael bloom.Googled the guy,he has repped and coached some big names like tom hanks,alec baldwin and segorney weaver.who knows maybe he can act.

    It’s just a rumor I heard from a few people. I don’t know if it’s true. What I heard was that the Producers and the Director could not agree on an actor to play Conan and had disagreements on the script. So everything has been scrapped for now. Once again it’s just a rumor but I’ve heard it from some people in Hollywood who’s word I trust.

    biggest problem solved…conan was a alpha male period these guys arent…they need to fix that quick!!!no pretty boys!!
    sorbo and ralph moller had the right build size just not the right “attitude”… the steriod dudes aint gonna work becasue of the actiong thing and the pretty boys wont work becasue of the alpha male thing.. the rock would have been better than these chumps and hes too small and again weird acting talent..scorpian king wasnt good enuff…

    I doubt that Conan will see the light of day if LG is the only funder. Conan really need another company to fund the movie. LionsGate also rarely to be so committted in promoting their product the way , namely,WB did. SO yeah the rumour that they will look for another investor kind of make sense. Lions gate also is not the kind of company with blockbuster/big budget movie.

    nispel chose momoa. padalecki is an option again bcause kellan and momoa were vetoed, and the movie was postponed (because of SPN padalecki was unable to start shooting in february).

    Yes, Mamoa is Nispel choice, but AFTER audtion. Jared is Nispel’s choice WITHOUT AUDTION. Big difference. I am just trying to correct Bright’s comment of Jared’s audition for Conan. He did not. I doubt that Jared gave his big effort that much for this role, which I think stemming from his reluctance of running around half naked.

    @ Cage. If that rumor is true it is some vary good news! That would make Nispil leave this project to find work. And then Conan could find a new and loveing home.

    Im glad Jared is back in te run. I wanted him as Conan from the first season of supernatural,and despite what many people claim, Jared has a great build for Conan, with equal parets strenght and agility. And if he is Nispels first choise I expect the lead actor and the director to be on the same level, wich might be important for the whole of the film.
    The main reason Jared could not play Conan before was because the filming started about a month before Jareds tv filming ended. That problem is now solved, conveiniently.
    They still have a crappy script to work with, but the JPad/Nispel team up is best case scenario in my oppinion.

    Nispel is a crap director and, Jared may have a great build but not for Conan. Jared would lack the dominating presence of conan. Jared did nothing in Friday 13 to make me say WOW! I do have to say that I was vary supprised to see that he had a nice build but, still not conan big.

    Please, enough with Drasko Andjic! He aint going to take any role since he is not qualified for it. He is too buffed up, he is too old and he cannot talk or act properly… If they were ever going to use a bodybuilder it would be Roland Kickinger. Since they are NOT going to use a bodybuilder Drasko and Roland are out of the question… So it seems like they search for someone who looks the part and, at least, has some acting experience, not someone who has just enormous biceps!

    They could get this guy. CONAN STEVENS. He was mainly stunt actor, but he is qite huge 6′ 11¾” (2.13 m). Only if he can act of course.

    Lets face it. This will not be a movie for the puritan Conan fan. And it will not be a remake of the Arnold movie. It will be a “new take” on the Conan saga. Its a hard thing to accept, but from that point we can only hope it will turn out a decent adventure movie. If it takes the focus of Conan as a bodybuilder, at least some good has come out of it.

    I don’t know if I claimed JPad had auditioned but I think he’ done a screen-test at least. You sure JPad didn’t audition at all? I mean why would anyone throw him into the rumors (which haven’t been debunked as I hoped) again if they didn’t know he would deliver what they ask for? Among 200 (?) eager to take on the role they are thinking on casting one without a screen-test? Sounds unbelievable to me. There are millions in the pot here.

    Now what they are looing for may not be what the fans wish, but the producers must have an idea of what they want from the actor that will play the character. I don’t think I’d go on the words of the director alone. JPad is not that big a name – yet. And may never be if he takes this on either, seeing these another that have auditioned, gah!

    I think he did some kind of screen-test to end up with Lutz and Kellan (if he really is). Otherwise the role would already have been cast with one of them. Why would the two of them be nixed if the bosses didn’t have anything they thought would work better and all they needed was a great body?

    One thing I do know is that if JPad gets the role, the character will be no grunting moron (and probably not very nude either) but a layered character. If that’s not what the produces want – JPad will stay clear of it, I’m sure.

    Well Jared wasn’t supposed to portray a big badass in Friday as I understand it. At least that’s what JPad has said in the interviews; he was just a normal guy facing extraordinary circumstances.

    That’s what acting is all about. Jared’s character was not supposed to tell you WOW! this one will kick Jason’s ass so JPad played his character just right.

    Which just proves JPad’s far too good for this belgian blue flick to be. I don’t know about the other two’s acting sills but I hope one of them gets it if all there is to it is flexing muscles and making intimidating faces.

    @ birght. Thats just my point. If they wanted a big bad ass to fight jason they would have got a big bad ass to do it. Jpad did play the part of a normal guy well but, conan is not a normal guy. I dont think Jpad is to good for this movie he is just wrong for this movie. Dont think conan is a meat head that likes to flex his muscles. Read some of REH’s conan storys to see what the real conan is like.

    @ Savros. I like that idea. I would much rather wach something like that then wach a crap Conan movie frome Nispel. They could do all of REH’s storys over a period of time. However, I am looking forward to waching this UK tv movie that’s comeing.

    They’re already having money issues as it is. The technology used in Avatar is very expensive. Cameron had to fight with the financers over money even harder than he had to on Titanic.

    They are looking for people who work cheaply. There are plenty of great actors who will ask too much. Likely even Telfer was over their limit. They only care about their bottom line.

    I didnt remember the word “auditioned” came from, if so, Im sorry.
    But I do think that Jared did not go auditioned for the role. Soon as Nispel was chosen to direct, Nispel picked Jared. I think he based on his experience working with Jared. He appreciates that Jared worked “fast” to compare to his experience working with movie actor.And Jared think people who work in F13 kinda slow. That, I think shows how Jared so get used to do shooting in short time period. Nispel was chosen around the time of Supernatural already filming and a month later Jared’s name surfaced.

    In Supernatural Magazine Jared said how producer or director said along the lines of “thank God we got TV actors” so, maybe thats the reason Nispel chose Jared. He also very impressed with Jared’s body.

    I think Jared is charismatic. He is TWICE kick another actors that already got the part: As Dean Forrester in Gilmore Girls he auditioned late in the game and he got the part. As Sam Winchester, he got the part, even after producer already cast another actor. So yeah, the possibility of Jared got the part is real high. It just a matter of whether Jared wants it, again, loincloth. I think thats what Jared stil have doubt about.

    I find him to be too skinny (especially in the picture posted). With the shoot date so near how can JM get much bigger or toned for that matter. Didn’t the guys in 300 train for 5 months or so?
    Conan is NOT just tall and skinny. He is all that is man! Tall, build like the perfect warrior with massive arms and chest yet able to still be as lithe as a tiger. Jason Momoa is not…sorry
    He would have been perfect for a corsair of sorts but noooooo lets miscast Conan again…yippy

    Hope he can act and he at least is a better choice than Blondie Twilight fag

    To add: He didnt do audition for F13, producers only watch him from video sent to them and love Jared. Jared got a call for dinner and in the dinner he is promised that he will have a good time ( shooting F13), that he will not regret the experience, that F13 will not be ridiculus, etc etc, basically try to wow him to make him interested in the project. And according producer, casting Jared set standar for casting another characters that f13 is not only about horror franchise but also full of young talented actors.

    So, yeah Jared probably is not famous,etc etc, but he is already THERE, in the place when he didnt have to go audition.

    Yeah, I remember how impressed Nisple was with Jared. I also find it highly suspicious that Momoa’s casting was right when Supernatural’s S6 was confirmed (I’m still hoping that’s a lie though).

    But when I read that Momoa was chosen because he acted very Arnold-like *shudder*, I am head over heels that JPad escaped the movie. It was what I feared and I highly doubt JPad would even have wanted such a role. He’s been described as a very soulful actor so even if he does conniving badass brilliantly, I doubt he’d ever do plain muscle flexing and grunting.

    Congrats to Momoa though, should be an easy thing to do since it takes next to nothing to mimick Arnold’s grunting Conan. I do feel kind of sorry for the REH fans if that’s what they will get.

    I think JPad casting will demand a lot of logistic, time constraint with the start of SN season 6, what if there will be re shoot? Which means JPad will have to maintain his hair and built body which will ruin Sam Winchester look somewhat( his hair already getting too long and body is too muscly). So, its not about losing role to more unknown actor. Its about assurance that this role will not ruin another JPad role. For JPad Conan will be his summer project, but to LG this is all their money in one basket. So naturally LG is looking for the more accessible candidate. Nispel also reportedly showing clip of Mamoa doing Conan, while JPad maybe only meeting and discussing his availability and his term. But still JPad is lucky that he got a shortcut to meet PTB at 11hour instead of doing gruelling screentest with another 2OO actors. If JPad got the role its kind of unfair to these 200 people who audition anyway.

    @ Bright. Wow I did not know you were in love with JPad that much to come and bash on us REH fans. And yes it is sad that they will not make a good conan movie from the REH stories. But that has nothing to do with you because you are a person that is a non REH fan and a non conan fan but you still post on this site for some reason.     Conan was supose to be white..thats what the script called out for!!! Go figure another hollywood maget got a roll just because he was in some other stupid show!! Hope they don’t ever decide to make Rocky again and use some idiot like him! He doesn’t even fit the profile!!! They gave this one to him…feel bad for the others that tried so hard!!I wonder if he even auditioned!!!!
