Petition to scrap the Conan screenplay and start over!

The past few weeks have been turbulent to say the least. All fans of Conan, be it the Milius movie, the Marvel comics, the Dark Horse Comics, or of course the stories from the Master Robert E. Howard himself, got slapped in their face with the casting reveal and now with a plot synposis, that hints at a mediocre D&Dish fantasy flick at best, being far from what most of us had hoped for.

The REH community therefore organized a petition, to show, by the power of numbers, how many people would dislike a movie made off the present main plotline hinted at through the plot synposis or the casting reveal.

If you wanna join the cause, spread the word (the share button comes in handy) and sign the petition!

This is not meant to be the action of a bunch of childish upset fanboys, we really want to honestly portrait our deepest concern, through the power of numbers, that a movie like this could do serious damage not only to our REH-loving hearts, but the Conan license as a whole.

The idea is great but… a petition? in a forum? I donĀ“t know if you can win this battle, man. At least, we need the support of some famous cinema websites. Like dreadcentral, AICN or something like that.

Maybe we can send some emails directly to paradox and millenium…

A piece of advice to the producers: ditch your soap-opera script writers or give them to read a f@#kin’ book, for crying out loud… or you’ll have a success similar to that of “Kull”. The phantasy fans are not idiots to fall for this idiocy, nor the movie goers will give you your money to see the Bold and the Beautiful in sword and sorcery style.

Conan-fan or no, this script is a pile of bat-guano!

@Green Orc it’s not in a forum, follow the link its an entry formular for a petition hosted by a REH fan.

Just pay some respect men…Conan is quite a legend to be treated as George of the jungle or a damn pokemon…I personally think not even Arnold in the first two movies had the real Conan spirit R.E.Howard created…But muscles was enough back at the ’80s…

SO MAKE A GOOD STORY FOR CROM’S SAKE!!!
YOU ARE PAYING FAR BETTER THAN I DO!

    P.S. (Must be Stygians…)

This is the right approach. Group petition entries in one place. This is conan.com. Then make links to it all over the web. They can read hit counters.

This is a good thing. Mark Finn is probably the most authoritive individual to make this petition. And its also made in a decent and civilized mannern not by “a bunch of childish upset fanboys”, as already pointed out. If Paradox ignore this, we will know for sure they just dont care about the fanbase, or about Conan, or making good movies. Money seems to be the main care of Paradox. And still, they should most likely make alot more money if they made a proper Conan movie from the beginning. I dont get it. Im confused and dissapointed.

Hope we get alot of names signed.

Has this been done before to other movies? and if it has -did it get any result?

I read my first Conan novel in 1969, and never looked back. Sure, Hollywood takes some liberties, but with CGI, and with the special effects that are now available… let’s do it right this time… I’ll pay to see it in the theatres, but it better be good…”By Crom”!

The beauty of the original ReH conan stories was that the world was still a mystery when he wrote them, he had an amazing imagination that was not tainted by popular culture. Please don’t turn conan into a fast food movie, there is plenty of that crap floating around. It is conan, not He-man. just as the solomon kane movie should not copy the Van-Helsing style.

I just got done reviewing the cast and plot line and though I’ve just recently fell into the sway of the Conan series (I’ve ordered all the books, I’ve yet to receive them) but from what I’ve already read about it and experienced with the movies, games and other things I’ve come across, this plot line needs to be re-done and based of the very first book. I’m almost getting an ‘Eragon’ feeling from this movie. With ‘Eragon’, it was like they took the characters, on single tiny part of the plot, then re-wrote the rest of it as they saw fit. And the movie was absolutely horrible. So please, to whom it may concern, don’t do that to Conan. Re-write it for the love of the Gods.
